Isaiah 6

1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord [ adonay = אֲדֹנָ֛י ] sitting on a throne [ כִּסֵּ֖א ] [chair كوسي- بمعنى كرسي], high and lifted up, and the train of His robe [וְשׁוּלָ֖יו][similar to shall ] filled the temple [ הַהֵיכָֽל׃ ] [هيكل ]  Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered [יְכַסֶּ֣ה] [يكْسي] his face, with two he covered his feet [رِجْلو ] [ רַגְלָ֖יו ] , and with two he flew.

3 And one cried to another [to this one] [this = זֶ֤ה = هذا ] and said [ و يأمر لكن تعني: يقول ][ וְאָמַ֔ר ]  “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts [Yahwa of Hosts ] [ יְהוָ֣ה ]The whole (all) [ كل ] [ כָל ]   earth [ أرض ] [ הָאָ֖רֶץ ] is full [ مِلَى – مليان ] [ מְלֹ֥א ]  of His glory!”

4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice [ من قول ] [ מִקּ֖וֹל ]  of him who cried out, and the house [ و ها البيت ] [ וְהַבַּ֖יִת ] was filled [ يملي او يمتلي [ יִמָּלֵ֥א with smoke.

5 So I said: Woe is me [ وَيْـلي ] [ אֽוֹי לִ֣י ] , for [ كي ] [ כִֽי ] – I am undone! ندمت regretted ] נִדְמֵ֗יתִי ]  Because I am [ أنوكي – تعني أنا ] [ אָנֹ֔כִי ]  a man [أيش] [אִ֤ישׁof unclean [ تِمِّي ] [טְמֵֽא means my mouth]  lips شفتاييم – معناها شفتايا] שְׂפָתַ֙יִם֙], And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes [ عيني ] [ עֵינָֽי׃ ] have seen [ רָא֥וּ ] [ راتو ]  the King [ הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ ] [ ها الملك ] , The Lord [ יְהוָ֥ה ] [ يا هو  of hosts.”

6 Then one [ أحد ] [ אֶחָד֙ ]  of [ مِن ] [ מִן ] the seraphim flew  to me [ إلي ] [ אֵלַ֗י ], having in his hand [ و بِـيـدّو ] [ וּבְיָד֖וֹ ]  a live coal which he had taken [ لقط – التقط] [ לָקַ֖ח ]  with the tongs [ بِــملقهييم – بالملقاط ] [ בְּמֶ֨לְקַחַ֔יִם ]  from [من على بمعنى من فوق – [מֵעַ֥ל]  the altar.

7 And he touched [ يقع او يرجع – و لكن تعني يضع ] [ וַיַּגַּ֣ע ] (on) [ على] [עַלmy mouth [ فِي – تعني فمي بالعربية القديمة ] [ פִּ֔י ] with it, and said: Behold, [ هُنا] [ הִנֵּ֛ה meaning here ]  this has touched your lips; [نجع – و تعني نضع ] [ נָגַ֥ע ] [General meaning: here I put this on your lips] Your iniquity [ عَوْنِـك ] [ עֲוֺנֶ֔ךָ ]  is taken away, And your sin purged [كفارة يعني مغفورة  means forgiven] [ תְּכֻפָּֽר׃ ] .”

8 Also I heard [ و نشمع – و نسمع ] [ וָאֶשְׁמַ֞ע] the voice [ قول و تعني الصوت ] [ק֤וֹל ] of the Lord[ أدناي ] [ אֲדֹנָי֙ ], Saying: [ تأمر – يعني تقول ] [אֹמֵ֔ר] Whom [مي و تعني: مِين ] [מִ֥י] shall I send [ إشلح يعني ارسل ] [אֶשְׁלַ֖ח ], And who will go for Us [ لنو معناه لنا] [ לָ֑נוּ ]?” Then I said, “Here am I [ هِني – معناه هاني انا] [ הִנְנִ֥י ]! Send me.” [اشلحني – اعتقد في اللغة السورية يعني هذا ابعثني ] [ שְׁלָחֵֽנִי׃ ]

9 And He said, “Go, and tell this [ هذا ] [הַזֶּ֑הpeople [ للعم – يعني لِـلْــعامة] [ לָעָ֣ם ] : Keep on [ شِمع- يعني سمعا hear ] [שָׁמ֙וֹעַ֙ ]  hearing [شمعوا – يعني سمعوا ] [ שִׁמְע֤וּ ] , but do not [و ال – و تعني و لا ] [ וְאַל ] understand [ تبينوا ] [תָּבִ֔ינוּ]Keep on [راو – يعني رؤية و يعني هنا رؤية العين see] [וּרְא֥וּ] seeing [و يروا ] [וּרְא֥וּ ] , but do not perceive.’ [تدعوا ] [תֵּדָֽעוּ׃ ]

10 “Make the heart [لب او اللب][לֵב] of this people [العم – بمعنى العامة][הָעָ֣ם] dull [ها شمن يعني سمن][הַשְׁמֵן֙ – literally means fat], And their ears [أزانوا – يعني اذانهم][וְאָזְנָ֥יו] heavy, And shut their eyes [و عينييوم – يعني عينيهم او عيونهم] [וְעֵינָ֣יו]; Lest they see [يراو] [יִרְאֶ֨ה] with their eyes [بعينيهم] [בְעֵינָ֜יו], And hear [يشمع-يسمع] [יִשְׁמָ֗ע] with their ears [و بأزانهم ] [וּבְאָזְנָ֣יו], And understand [يبين] [יָבִ֛ין] with their heart [و لبابو – يعني بألبابهم] [וּלְבָב֥וֹ]And return [و شبّ] [וָשָׁ֖ב] and be healed.”

11 Then I said, “Lord [أدناي] [אֲדֹנָ֑י], (a:d) [عادْ – هذا عبارة بدوية تستعمل في بداية الحديث – نقول كذلك: تي عاد] [עַד] How long?” [مِتى] And He answered:[و يومر] [וַיֹּ֡אמֶר] Until “A:d [عاد – نفس المعنى أعلاه. does not mean until] [עַ֣דthe cities [أشِر ربما تقصد الاشارة هنا] [אֲשֶׁר֩(a:m) [أم] [אִם]  are laid waste [شاؤوا] [שָׁא֨וּand without [مإن] [מֵאֵ֣ין] inhabitant [يوشب] [יוֹשֵׁ֗ב]The houses [و بيتيم] [וּבָתִּים֙] are without a man, The land [و ها الأديم] [וְהָאֲדָמָ֖ה the ground] is utterly desolate, [تي شاح ربما يعني الجفاف dry] [תִּשָּׁאֶ֥ה]

12 The Lord [يا هو] [יְהוָ֖ה] has removed [رحق] [וְרִחַ֥ק] men [ها آدم] [הָאָדָ֑ם this Adam] far away, And the forsaken [و ربَّ ها عزوبا – معنى عذبه to torment – cause pain] [וְרַבָּ֥ה – הָעֲזוּבָ֖ה] places are many in the midst [بقرب near] [בְּקֶ֥רֶב] of the land[ها أرض][הָאָֽרֶץ׃ this planet or land ].

13 But yet [و عود – يعني ارجع come back] [וְע֥וֹד] a tenth [عشريات – يعني العشر] [עֲשִׂ֣רִיָּ֔ה]

will be in it [ويعود] [וְשָׁ֖בָה].

And will return [و شابا ] [וְשָׁ֖בָה]  and be [و حياتها] [וְהָיְתָ֣ה] for consuming [لِـبعر] [לְבָעֵ֑ר] , As a terebinth tree [كــالاه و تعني شجرة الفزتق] [כָּ אֵלָ֣ה] or as an oak, Whose stump remains when it is cut down. So the holy [قدس بمعنى المقدس] [קֹ֖דֶשׁ] seed  [زرع] [זֶ֥רַע] shall be its stump.”

13  But yet [و عود – يعني ارجع  comes back] [וְע֥וֹד] a tenth [عشريات – يعني العشر] [עֲשִׂ֣רִיָּ֔ה]

will be in it  [بِها] [בָּהּ֙] [و يعود] [וְשָׁ֖בָה], And will return [و شابا ] [וְשָׁ֖בָה]  and be [و حياتها] [וְהָיְתָ֣ה] for consuming [لِـبعر] [לְבָעֵ֑ר]As a terebinth tree [كــالاه و تعني شجرة الفزتق –ila: h] [כָּ אֵלָ֣ה] or as an oak, Whose stump remains when it is cut down. So the holy [قدس بمعنى المقدس] [קֹ֖דֶשׁ] seed  زرع] [זֶ֥רַע] shall be its stump.”
